Q1. What genre would you say your music fits under?

A: That may be the biggest question I have for myself. I think the beauty of where I am at musically is that I’m experimenting with so many sounds. Some say conscious rap and others say hip hop. I am more interested in creating a vibe for the listener than falling into one genre that boxes me in. Q2. What inspires you to create the music that you do when you go to the studio? A: Life is the biggest inspiration an artist can have. The beauty of life can create some awesome records but the darkness is also needed. How can I speak for a generation in pain if I haven't felt it personally? Everything I speak about is true to my daily life. I’m inspired to share what I observe because you never know who is out there looking for somebody to relate to them.

Q3. What is the theme of your upcoming EP going to be?

A: The theme of this EP is about finding yourself spiritually and consciously. I have taken so many steps forward in the last year and seen so many new places. I want to share what I notice and also give the listeners an idea of my progression as a man and artist. I’m going to speak on things that aren't popular with the average human. It may take a few times through to understand what I am portraying, but that’s what I love about art!

Q4. How does the crowd react to you when you hit the stage? To be extremely honest, while staying humble to my core, I get an amazing reaction when I hit the stage. Performing is where I feel the most comfortable. I can be having a horrible day but when I step on that stage I bring nothing but energy and turn into a new person. People look at me and wouldn't expect me to hop on stage and spit. Seeing and meeting new crowds is where I get my happiness. All I want is for a crowd member to go home and say "Damn that hippie surprised the hell out of me" Q5. How long have you been planning this EP? Should we expect any special features? A: It was a relatively short process. I knew I needed to release more music before I went on tour and people have been patient with me. My close friend Tone from Legends Live Forever really locked me down in the lab and created some beautiful instrumentals. Expect some features from up and coming artists J. Rich and L.O.S. I kept the features and production in house because I really wanted to make this project with my family and I think it brought out the best in me. Q6. I ask every local artists I interview, but if I were to look through your iPhone or computer files- What kind of genres or songs would I find?

A: You would be lost haha, I have every single genre you can think of. I sway back and forth between hip hop, soul, blues, funk and everything in between. All music inspires me!

Q7. I have been following you on Instagram, but for those who haven't what are they missing? A: They are missing out on one of the greatest human beings to ever walk this earth lol. No but in all reality I love putting up photos of not only my music but also other images in regards to the world. You may see some weed related things because I can't lie, I love ganja. But follow me at @johnnykapmusic so we can connect! Q8. Any upcoming shows for you? A: I have an upcoming tour that will span 11 states in 3 weeks! Slapfrost.com gives you all the information. I'm touring with Locksmith, Zman, Dj True Justice, Vocab Slick and Starski so I am extremely excited and blessed to be given this opportunity. Q9. Where can people who don't already know you find your music or follow you?
