J.Quest's "Son of a City Worker" EP Review

Before J.Quest dropped Son of A City Worker he had released a few singles such as “Just My Style”, “All City Part II” and “Arts Crimes” on both Soundcloud.com and Bandcamp.com. He even released an official video for “Just My Style” which can be viewed on YouTube. If you’ve been a J.Quest fan before he released this project you would understand how this EP shows both growth and reflects J.Quest as a hip-hop artist. Listening to the five tracks you can how hear how much time he spent in the studio while balancing the responsibilities of a day job. I’ve honestly supported J.Quest from the day he had reached out to me to listen to one of his singles before those other singles listed above. After listening to that track I can see that J.Quest took in the feedback I gave him to sharpen up his verses. If you take 20 minutes or less of your day to listen to this EP you would realize that each song has a deep meaning behind the track. Not all of his tracks are serious but have some humor while recording the track "Candy Bars/Jackin'4Jeeps" you can hear the in and out conversation he has with a close friend. To me that interests me that he has some theatrical within his tracks. Besides the interesting track titles he chose talented hip-hop artists such as Dave Canal, J.Lately and Mallz to have as features that make the tracks have a unique splash. If you’re reading this and are wondering what that splash is – go and listen to his EP. I favorite all five tracks but my playlist to his EP would be:

1. Hapa Boy (Feat. J. Lately)

2. Heavy Weight Champ (Feat. Dave Canal)

3. Son of City Worker

4. Rockin' It (Feat. Mallz)

5. Candy Bars/Jackin'4Jeeps

Let’s talk about the samples on all of the tracks… He doesn’t use typical samples but ones that are recognizable to those who study music or at least know their music! From track one to track five you have a sample that makes you bob your head or want to groove in your own way. I hope by now your already listening to the EP if your not… You need to go to
