Questions:

Q1. What does your stage name "QM" stand for? Is there a specific story behind forming it?

A: When I was in 8th grade my rap name was "Cumulus" like the cloud. Later in life it got shortened to QM (Short for Cumulus) because ain’t nobody got time for a long ass name like Cumulus

Q2. How does your wife feel about you pursuing a career as a hip-hop artist?

A: She supports it to the fullest. She's the best wife a man could ask for. Luh Yuh Jess

Q3. What inspired you to write and produce you recent "I Shoulda Been a Surfer"?

A: The idea behind that project was that I'm a white guy, I got long hair, I'm from California...and I make rap music...Probably would have been easier to be a surfer hahaha

Q4. How do you balance out being a father and husband with being a hip-hop artist?

A: Being a husband and doing music is fine just gotta make sure wifey knows she's always #1. As far as my daughter goes she inspires me to make music...we listen to beats all day. If she starts smiling and dancing I know its a good one.

Q5. What would you label your sound as? Has someone ever told you you sound like someone from the radio?

A: My sound is that REC sound. Me, Richie Cunning, Maclane, Proe, Grip Grand, Rob Rush, Haji P, DJ Bad DJ we all just make music for live shows...life's pretty insane so we just want people to enjoy their lives for 30 + minutes and forget about all the terrible shit in the world. That’s why our live shows have so much energy. As far as radio... I've been told I sound like I'm from the West Coast, which I am...so that works...great job person who told me that.

Q6. I have been following you for some time now, but for those who aren't what are they missing out on?

A: They're missing out on my love for the movie "White Men Can't Jump", They're missing out on me drinking a couple bottles of wine and tweeting new alias's like QM aka "The Late Show with Stephen ColdBeer", They're missing out on me coming up with new Business ideas like "Ratchet Racquet" a used Tennis gear shop.... and oh yeah my music. I have a lot of that too.

Q7. Do you have any upcoming shows?

A: Feb 5th me and Rec League got a show at F8 on Folsom and 8th in SF, Richie is performing at the Elbo Room Dec 10th. I'm gonna rap in his set (He doesn't know it yet...bummer for you dude) other than that I'm just finishing up my new album with Luke Sick titled "ON TILT"

Q8. I ask all the local artists I interview, but if I were able to look at your iPhone or computer - What kind of genres or songs would I find?

A: All my friends music, A lot of early 90's Bay Area rap, A lot of Huey Lewis, A ton of Sean Price, DJ Quik, Devin The Dude, I don’t know I have a LOT of music... I listen to everything

Q9. Where can your new followers find your music or follow you on your social sites?

A: First of all thank you for the interview! Shouts to Futuristic Dreamers! As far as finding me on the World Wide Web search "QM Rec League" on Google or YouTube.
