Questions:

Q1. How did you come across the stage name - "Babii Cris"? A: My stage name Babii Cris was inspired by an underground female hip-hop artist by the name of Babiixjenii who I used to listen to heavily when I was 14-16 years old. I was so drawn to her as an artist because her music was the first music I was able to listen to, and actually understand fully without questioning what a single portion of her lyrics meant, because at that time, I was going through my very first "real" relationship that was actually based on my "first love" it was the first time I experienced "love", heartbreak, crying over someone, it was my first experience with anything that had to do with a REAL relationship, fighting, arguing, then fighting to make up, fighting to stay together, and it was also my first relationship that lasted for almost a year. Babiixjeniis music helped me get through the majority , if not, ALL of that time, and my name was inspired by her, because I wanted to be able to make my own music that reflected my feelings, my relationship, my heartbreak, because that was what most of Babiixjeniis songs contained. Real life experiences between her and someone she loved truly. Since it was my first time going through that, listening to her was so empowering, I wanted to be just like that. I wanted to be able to make music that girls and people like me would be able to listen to and react the same way that I did; and that was being able to be strong and come to realize that no matter what I went through, openly expressing myself through music is what makes me strong and fight through the tough times. Then it grew more from there. My name is a dedication to her. Because she also doesn't have any pictures, or ANY information about her. She's kind of unknown.

Q2. If people know you as a female emcee they will recognize you as a "Triple Threat". But for those who don't know you like that how would you explain to them what that meant?

A: I would give them the explanation of exactly what I meant to label my very first album I ever released called "Triple Threat" - that is because I produced every single beat, I recorded, mixed and mastered every single song, and wrote every single song off of that album, all by myself, of course not including the artists' lyrics who are featured, as they wrote their own lyrics of course. But yes; I would explain it as literal as I mean to say it :) Q3. I have been following for some time now, but for those who aren't what are they missing out on?

A: I don't really like to think of anyone who doesn't listen to or follow me as missing out on anything, because I feel like one day, they will stumble upon me, and I either catch their ears, or I don't. All I know, is that every single song I make, is to express myself, what I go through, my struggles, other struggles I am told by other friends, or family, or people, to inspire to reach higher, and to see people be like "damn, I can relate to that" - because every single song of mine, is my life. Or the life of someone I care about. And I care about all people. So those who don't listen to me, I hope soon they will. But if not, that's cool, I'll continue to make a positive impact on others’ lives and eventually lead up to catching their ear once they hear what I'm about in any song they may first listen to of mine :) Q4. I hella loved your "Triple Threat" album, do you plan on releasing another album for 2016?

A: I appreciate that, thank you so much! For it being my first album I ever released, that means a lot to me. I am planning on releasing a new album "FearLess" fully produced by the Japanese artist Junknuts. This will be my second album I am ever releasing and I will be releasing it in January of 2016. The title is called FearLess because of the fact that I want to share with others how music, and creating music, art, makes me fearless, and essentially each person can switch out what makes me fearless, to relating it to them on what makes them fearless. That ONE thing that you LOVE to do for the better of your own self-good, and to help others, is what makes you fearless. It's what makes you confident enough to even do it because of the fact that you know it is GOOD. That, is being fearless. Standing up for what you believe in, following your dreams, and doing what makes you happy, while being fearless to how ANYONE wants to view it, just for their own self pleasure of seeing you upset because of their hate. Fearless is when you are able to consistently work hard for what you believe in, what makes you happy, and others happy, while having haters and not giving a fuck about what they think because YOU know exactly why and What you are doing, and no one can stop you, because you are doing GOOD, whatever it is that you do that you love and that is mentally and emotionally good for you and others, is GOOD.

Q5. I know you and Watzreal work for Hiphop4Change organization, what has that experience been like?

A: That experience has been amazing, I am learning so much more every day about our culture, and I am so much more aware everyday of what the media is doing to our culture. I love to spread awareness to everyone who walks by, I love to have the important conversations that bring awareness to the 3 major corporations that own and control 90% of the mainstream industry hip-hop music on the radio, Sony, Universal, and Warner. With their corporate narratives of hip-hop music, that destroys black and brown communities with stereotypes in mainstream hip-hop that perpetuates racism and keeps communities divided. I love being able to openly express myself and say how hip-hop and music saved my life, and actually LIVE that through the organization, I love being able to talk to kids on the street to game them up on all of this, and tell them a little of what I went through myself, I love that I can say what EVER I want, for the SOCIAL JUSTICE of our community, with appropriate strong language. And honestly, I could go all day on this. But this is the most I can say for now. There is just so much more positive experience I have yet to experience, and continue to experience every day. It is tough when not everyone is even aware of these things, or underestimate hip-hop and only see it through one side because these corporations are doing a great job at tarnishing the name "hip-hop" I talk to a lot of people who say they don't like it. Which is exactly the point of why we are out here spreading awareness to the true values of hip-hop which are peace, love, unity, and having fun. Sad to say, most didn't know that, when hip-hop birthed out of the civil rights movement to empower and uplift each other in the community. Hip-hop was not originally birthed to encourage people, even the youth to become drug addicts, alcoholics, sell their bodies and pimp even rape people. That is mainstream hip-hop. That is want they want us to look like to keep us divided, and funnel black and brown people through private prison systems. Which are what 2 out of 3 of the corporations we talk about, invest in themselves.

Q6. Do you have any upcoming shows?

A: I do, December 3rd with HipHopForChange.Org (more info will be there) December 18th at the Honey Hive Gallery with Landon Wordswell, Watzreal, Unlearn, Taste Nate, Gigio, 3rd LVL, & more December 26th I am throwing a show with Watzreal at the Brick & Mortar in San Francisco 18+ $15 admission (Presale tix will be available) (you can literally miss every other show of mine as long as you can make this one lol) we need EVERYONE there! Headliner is Young Gully, with Supporting acts: Heat, Squinkla, Sahtyre, myself, Watzreal and one more! Definitely will be more shows, but I want to take easy to focus on new music, so I'm not looking for shows unless I am requested to perform. So meantime, catch me at one of these! :) Q7. I ask all of the local artists I interview, but if were able to look at your iPhone or computer - What kind of genres or songs would I find? A: You'd find honestly a lot more different genres than hip-hop on my phone lol. You'd see a lot of songs in Spanish, by Latino artists, classical music, I like certain scores from movies because it's like a soundtrack to my life, alternative, rock, a lot of r&b, and of course, hip-hop.

Q8. What are your studio sessions like, I wish I could see how you are able to create the hella dope tracks you do. So if I were able to what would that session be like?

A: I would love for you to have a sit in whenever you're down and in town! - you'd either see my process of writing, recording, mixing and mastering a song, or you'd see all of that, with witnessing my production of a beat before all of that. Plus, I like to talk a lot about why I do what I do when I engineer, if you're up to listening to me talk a lot lol, but I promise, it's for a good cause lol

Q9. Where can your new followers find your music or follow you on your social media sites?

A: Pandora! iTunes, Spotify, iheartradio, but what keeps me the most stable is when supporters and new followers actually purchase a hard copy of my debut album "Triple Threat" - and that can be done at my website www.babiicris.com/store - and sharing of course :) please share my music, your favorite song, and show consistent support by sharing me with your own friends, fam, and on your social media too! I appreciate and need all of the awareness of my music and movement that I can get. I am on Facebook.com/BabiiCris - Twitter.com/babiicrissays - Instagram @babiicris - soundcloud.com/BabiiCris - BabiiCris.bandcamp.com - YouTube.com/xbabiicrisx (please watch and share my new music videos!!) and more I am pretty sure lol that's all I got for now, thanks so much for the support and the love Futuristic Dreamers!
