Interview with MC 20/20 & Producer/Founder JMAD from Bridge Music Records

Questions:
Q1: What is the story behind creating the WWI album, how long did it take for you guys to produce the instrumentals and write the tracks?
20/20 (Brandon Bowen): Well, the title kind of really explains the meaning and drive behind creating this 2-disc album. “THE WAR WITHIN". It is the battle, the fight, the everyday struggle we have within ourselves to ultimately choose good or evil, right or wrong. Most importantly for people to just slow down and THINK! Seems that is a big problem these days. Not to necessarily think as we do, but inspire others to
think for themselves, self-reflection.
JMAD PRODUCTIONS (Jason Madsen): It took us about a year to write, compose, and arrange all 29 tracks. I actually only started producing 6 months prior to us starting the album.... lol I’ll give u the cliff notes on how that went down. I grew up with B (20/20), and was always blown away every time I’d hear him spit a verse. Not only his ability to switch up his delivery and approach on each track, but more importantly his message and what he believed in. So, after many years of getting teased with a track here and there from him, I came to him with a proposal. I asked him if I worked my ass off, and if I could somehow put a handful of tracks together to his liking, if he would finally put out an EP or something. He took me up on the offer / challenge, and so began THE WAR WITHIN...I really wanted to make sure most of the beats stayed out of a traditional verse hook verse cycle, and create music with more opportunities for expression and interpretation for the artist to get his message across. Because in the end that’s what really matters, the Message, and I feel 20/20 has a great one and needs to be heard.
Q2. What would you like the world or your fan base to get by listening to your album? A positive or negative impact?
20/20: We would most definitely want the message to be a positive one. We may talk of some Negative subjects or situations that we have been through and experienced, but That’s to let cats know that have done or doing the same, that they are not alone in this battle. A Positive Impact only made possible because it was delivered with a real message! We want to break the monotony and destroy all of this distribution of commercial pollution that’s out here right now.
Q3. How long has Bridge Music Records been around?
JMAD PRODUCTIONS: I started Bridge Music Records in the spring of 2014. Its sole purpose was too providing a platform for people to hear what this man has to say. I believed so much in it and his abilities that I started to make beats in hopes of maybe making a handful of tracks...Next thing I know we were 29 deep! Q4. If I were to hang out with you and your crew during a studio session, what would that environment or session be like?
JMAD PRODUCTIONS: Always cloudy up in the lab. Most definitely gonna have a bottle or two, always bouncing different ideas and concepts for songs off each other. This is my straight family right here, so it’s always a good time when I’m in the studio with B, but most of all we work, work, work, and are always trying to better ourselves and each other. Never ever just about him or I, always about the music!
Q5. I ask all of the local artists I interview, but if I were to look at your iPhone or computer - What kind of genres or songs would I find?
20/20: Everything...lol. To use one of J's words A "Smorgasboard" of different artists.
JMad Productions: Yup, that's a big ingredient with this music we make. It’s all about Bridging gaps between different genres....... Bridge Music! Personally I come from a classical background, playing trumpet/cornet, as well as teaching it. So We try to incorporate and add favorite concepts, sounds, or instruments from different genres not normally associated with Hip Hop. I’m really excited and happy with how our "sound" as a whole is coming along, and we think others will too!
Q6. I have been following you for some time now, but for those who are not - what are those non-followers or listeners missing out on?
JMAD Productions (Jason Madsen): They are missing out on something new, unique, and most importantly we are offering something different then what u get force fed everyday on the radio. B doesn’t waste a word when he’s flowing you know what I mean!?! There are no "filler lines" or 5 minute songs on how tight his chain is. It’s always real. It’s always life. Always substance. Real Music.
